Tribute to The Beginning Part 2

Not gonna lie, Pokemon and Sailor Moon are two of the main reasons why Animation captivated me so, and how I started drawing in the first place. They're probably some of the most influential material in television history.
So I tip my hat off to these shows for inspiring me to go after my animation dream. =)

Jacket On, Jacket Off

I thought the Jacket On Jacket Off sequence was absolutely BRILLIANT in the new remake of the Karate Kid. Even though it borrowed hints from the original, the film did an amazing job with keeping the context of Kung Fu as well as the dynamic chemistry of Dre and Mr Han. It was probably a very daunting task to remake a beloved classic, but I think this film was done with class, flare, and charm. I probably watched this movie 5 times in the last 2 days, and this particular sequence a dozen times more. "Kung Fu lives in everything, Xiao Dre. It lives in how you put on a jacket and how you take a jacket off. It lives in how you treat people." I've made up my mind that no one in their right mind can ever hate Jackie Chan. He is just that cool. And little Smith is taking the reigns from his ol' man very very well. Needless to say, I ADORE this movie, and probably cried more times than I'd like to admit.

...And I'll tell you a secret...
I liked this better than the original. (awaiting to get shot by loyal fans).

These two stole my heart.
"PICK UP YOUR JACKET!" XD

I Loathe The Last Airbender...

Shyamalan's version, that is.
I can't... even put... into words... the severe agony I felt during the excruciating pain of sitting through that dreadful hour and half. From the moment the screen displayed that cheap mockery of the Television Show's Opening... I knew it would be the longest movie of my life. I loathe you, mr. Director, for taking away everything that was lovable about the show, and turning it into an awful torture ride.

In recovery, I've decided to revisit a few of my past fanart of that beloved animated tv show. I've redrawn, recoloured, or restyled some of my fanart to see how my style's changed over the years. And because I really need an outlet to express my burning repugnance toward the live action movie.

Shyamalan.... never... again.

Tribute to the Beginning - Part 1

CARDCAPTOR SAKURA (aka "CardCaptors")

This is part 1 of the series of marker doodles of television shows and films that inspired me to be a part of the wonderful world of Animation.

CardCaptor Sakura was a brilliant show. It was like taking the best of pokemon and sailormoon and mashing it up into one great storyline.

I'm not ashamed to say that I was a total fangirl of this series. I watched it religiously, and then rewatched the episodes on my VHS tapes to the point where I memorized the lines.

I also owe it to this show that I started picking up the concept of colour, action, design, and appeal--that even now, I still remember and utilize.

There are many shows that helped jumpstart that switch in my brain that told me I wanted to become an animator. But this show, by many standards, takes the top tier of the cake.

kudos, Cardcaptor Sakura.
You made me me.
